Over 100 artisan bike-builders gathered in Sacramento to show off their recent work and bond as a community of creators. Visitors, like Troy Stamps and his daughter, were treated to a hands-on experience with some of the most innovative bikes and builders in the industry. Sacramento’s Emily Kachorek, co-founder of Squid Bikes, reveals her inspiration from surf/skate culture and leads bike-builders on a joy-ride through her city. Students exhibitors from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, work together on complex bike projects to create bikes that are “a bigger accomplishment then any one individual can make by themselves.” 2019 NAHBS CX Bike award-winner, Chris McGovern, talks about his relationship with some of the greats in California’s storied hand-built bicycle community.
